Barcelona-based tech whiz kids Denis Peramos and Alex Molina, aka The Deals, provide a perfect club-ready EP for BlueCube’s eighth release. Newcomers to the production scene, the two share a common love for all things electronic, from thunderous techno to smoother deep house.
Eventually this common obsession over a wide extent of electronic sounds allowed them to perform eclectic sets at some of Barcelona’s best clubs. Now taking the plunge into their newly formed artist moniker, their work on Black Mode is a sure sign of career successes and club-rocking thrills. With remix help from Colombia’s DJ Fronter and rising Spanish star Nuria Ghia, as well as a collaborative effort with Matt Akita, the entire EP screams an attitude of drummy tech synonymous with the Ibiza summer crowd.
The title track opens up with steadily rising energy as its slick drum work thrives on a more tribal influenced groove. What’s left at the drop is sheer tech-house bliss with plenty of ride love and tweaked vocals. DJ Fronter brings a more techno-driven flair to his mix with a repeating key rhythm and intelligent arrangement that creates suspense at the perfect moments. Another up-and-coming artist, DJ Fronter proves his dedication to the techno craft with this mix, and he has already received support from big names such as Richie Hawtin and UMEK on past releases.
Sauces was born out of a collaborative project with The Deals and Matt Akita. Leaving nothing to be desired, it’s a perfect peak-time banger with plenty of energy. Another big track on the release, it’s sure to be found in record bags all over the globe this summer season. Lastly, delivering a more subtle tech-house mix, Nuria Ghia’s grooving rendition of Sauces works as a warm-up tune but at the right moment, can also ignite the dance floor.
As BlueCube brings a more tech-influenced flair to its catalogue, it seems the label’s strategy is paying off. Enabling up-and-comers as well as established names to showcase their talents and be played by some of the biggest names in the business, the imprint invites both serious floor fillers and serious DJs.
